Movement Is Medicine
Proudly Serving Customers in Cranford, Hounslow, and Surrounding West London Areas.
Body In Balance Pilates operates from a well-equipped Pilates studio in Hounslow, West London. My company was originally established in 2004 as a sports and remedial massage company and educational platform. As my professional focus changed to Pilates, the company changed to Body In Balance Pilates, which is still dedicated to helping people with their physical health and fitness. I love Pilates as a form of exercise as well as a remedial tool to aid recovery from illness and injury. I am passionate about helping people understand why they are doing each exercise and how it will help improve their posture and their health.
Currently, I teach various levels of mat classes at The Hogarth Health Club in Chiswick and private clients at Body In Balance Pilates Studio in Cranford. Examples of injury recovery may be seen on my instagram feed @shantipilates
As a sports massage therapist, I was always looking for new remedial tools to introduce to my clients to encourage them to help themselves. In 2008, I was introduced to Pilates, and I became intrigued by the profound rehabilitative effects this discipline has on many issues within the body, including everything from rotator cuff injuries and debilitating back problems to post-operative breast cancer rehabilitation.
In 2009, I embarked on a rigorous Pilates teacher training programme with the Pilates Foundation. I qualified at the end of 2010 and in September 2013 I was fortunate to be accepted by Trevor Blount, the founder of the Pilates Foundation, as an apprentice to continue my training and completed the bridging course two years later. Originally all Pilates teachers would have been trained through apprentiships but modern working life seldom allows for this opportunity.
